All businesses must meet the following criteria:

• Between 10 and 249 employees (whole company not individual sites)
• Private, franchise, public and voluntary bodies
• Not benefited from Leadership and Management grant funding since April 2006

How can I identify my business
leadership and management needs?

You will be offered an in-depth diagnostic to identify a leadership and management development (LMD) plan. A specialist Leadership and Management (LMAS) Adviser will work with you to create a Personal Development Plan (PDP). This will outline and address your needs and help to identify challenging and innovative solutions.

What kind of training and development solutions can be funded?

Solutions are aimed at developing leaders and managers within the business e.g. an MD or a director or another manager with substantial leadership responsibility. The key factor is development solutions that will increase the leadership capability of the business leader and his/her senior managers and match the personal development needs identified. Solutions (which must be for a minimum of six hours) may include:-

• Accredited management qualifications
• Coaching/mentoring
• Customised management development package

They cannot include:

• Mandatory or statutory training (e.g. health and Safety)
• Technical training (e.g. IT skills)
• Assessment costs for accreditation such as ISP or IiP

What amount of funding is available?

Up to £1000 is available to support owners/senior managers in eligible organisations. The second £500 of this £1000 has to be matched i.e. for an investment of £1500, a grant of £1000 will be awarded upon receipt of payment evidence (receipted invoice). If the full funding is not taken up by the first beneficiary, then other managers can be included dependent upon business and personal development needs.
