NVQs stand for National Vocational Qualifications and are delivered in the workplace. To undertake NVQs delivered through Fast Forward, you must already be employed in the role for which you want to take the NVQ.
Work based qualifications, previously known as NVQs are beneficial to employers and their staff because:
- They are entirely workplace based, so staff do not have to take time out to attend classes
- One-to-one feedback with a trained assessor is provided to national standards identified by relevant Sector Skills Councils
- They are skills-based, encouraging staff to become more productive in their role and critically question and reflect on their performance against standards
In 2010, NVQs are changing to become part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) with three kinds of qualification available across Levels 1 to 5: Award, Certificate and Diploma. Gaining an Award, Certificate or Diploma will depend on the amount of credits attained.
Please note that some NVQ qualifications have removed the term NVQ from their official title whilst some qualifications have retained it.
